Jean-Pascal Machiels est oncologue médical à l’Institut Roi Albert II des Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc. Il est Professeur Ordinaire à l’Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) et est responsable d’une équipe de recherche au sein de l’Institut de Recherche Expérimentale et Clinique (IREC) de l’UCLouvain. Il est responsable des guidelines européennes (ESMO) pour le cancer épidermoïde des cancers ORL.
De 1998 et 2000, il a séjourné deux ans à Baltimore au Johns Hopkins où il se perfectionne en cancérologie. Ses intérêts principaux sont les cancers des voies aéro-digestives supérieures et les thérapies innovantes. Il est auteur et co-auteurs de plus de 250 publications. En 2012, il a été lauréat du Prix Inbev-Baillet-Latour pour la recherche clinique.
Il est membre du Bureau de l'EHNS.

Hij is gewoon hoogleraar aan de Université Catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) en leidt een onderzoeksteam aan het Instituut voor Experimenteel en Klinisch Onderzoek (IREC) van de UCLouvain. Hij is verantwoordelijk voor de Europese (ESMO) richtlijnen voor plaveiselcelcarcinoom en hoofd-halskankers.
Van 1998 tot 2000 bracht hij twee jaar door in Baltimore, aan de Johns Hopkins-universiteit, waar hij zijn expertise in oncologie verder ontwikkelde. Zijn voornaamste interesses zijn kankers van het bovenste deel van de luchtwegen en innovatieve therapieën. Hij is auteur en co-auteur van meer dan 250 publicaties. In 2012 ontving hij de Inbev-Baillet-Latour Prijs voor Klinisch Onderzoek.
Hij is lid van het EHNS Bureau.

Jean-Pascal Machiels is a medical oncologist at the King Albert II Institute of the Saint-Luc University Clinics. He is a Full Professor at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCLouvain) and heads a research team at the Institute for Experimental and Clinical Research (IREC) at UCLouvain. He is responsible for the European (ESMO) guidelines for squamous cell carcinoma and head and neck cancers.
